After an extensive period of data conversion and training for staff, Swan Hill Regional Library finally went live with theSymphony as part of the Swift Consortium on Thursday March 19.

The go-live went smoothly, and the staff of Swan Hill are to be congratulated on their professionalism and hard work throughout the conversion process.

Swan Hill is the 15th Victorian public library to join the Swift Consortium, and bring four branch libraries (Swan Hill, Barham, Moulamein and Wakool) and one Mobile Library.

The dataload of Swan Hill's database added to the Swift system 9,417 new patron records, 82,176 item records, and 19,528 new title records (41,064 title records matched  with existing titles in the Swift database).

The library members at Swan Hill now have direct access to nearly 3 million items from libraries across the state of Victoria.

The collection contains over 82,000 items, including books, audio books, DVDs, videos, CDs and magazines.

The Heritage Room, located in the Swan Hill branch, houses a collection of books, photos and articles on the history of Swan Hill and surrounding areas. The Local History and Genealogical Society have a room in the Library, which is manned by volunteers several days a week to assist people researching local and family history.

The local Toy Library is also located in a room in the Swan Hill Library.

Joining the Swift Consortium has been a great benefit to users of Swan Hill Regional Library Service as they now have access to a much larger range of resources than could previously be provided, an improved online catalogue, and customers can now renew items over the internet.
