NSW Libraries Join Swift
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 03 September 2009

The Swift Consortium has “expanded” to New South Wales.

Six Library services from the Southern Sydney metropolitan region have joined Swift to take advantage of the Consortium environment and the SirsiDynix ILMS software. The libraries are:

  • Ashfield City Library Service
  • City of Botany Bay Library
  • Burwood Library Service
  • Kogarah City Library
  • Marrickville Library Service
  • Strathfield Library Service

Ashfield City Library completed its migration to Swift on September 3rd, and the remaining five libraries will be migrated to the SirsiDynix Symphony system over the next six months.

Swift NSW will initially be established as a separate database to the Victorian Swift libraries, but with the same software and global configurations.

The Local History and Genealogical Society have a room in the Library, which is manned by volunteers several days a week to assist people researching local and family history.

The local Toy Library is also located in a room in the Swan Hill Library.

Joining the Swift Consortium has been a great benefit to users of Swan Hill Regional Library Service as they now have access to a much larger range of resources than could previously be provided, an improved online catalogue, and customers can now renew items over the internet.
